This playground had been unused by the school for over 2 years due to the dangerous state of the rubberized surface which had started to delaminate and lift creating several trip hazards. They asked us to
come up with a cost-effective solution to return this to a safe, usable area for the children.
Firstly, we had over 700sqm of rubberized soft play covering to lift and remove off-site before we could start to remove the playground equipment which had become unsafe and damaged.
We proceeded to prepare the subsurface by laying 70 tonnes of hardcore and compacting this to bring the playground level up to meet the existing curb level. 26 tonnes of open grade tarmac was then laid and rolled flat allowing surface water to drain effectively without the need to put in extra drainage channels and pipework.
Finally, we carried out a deep clean of the area and cleared all pathways and seating areas of old rubbish and leaves ready for kids to play out safely
